2019 General Elections: DG reads riot act to Corps Members


Corps Members have been warned to conduct themselves within the provisions of the electoral laws and discharge their services during the forthcoming general elections as patriotic ad-hoc staff that would ensure free and fair elections.

The Director-General, Major General Suleiman Zakari Kazaure gave this warning in Kaduna while addressing Corps Members during his sensitization visit to the State.

He added that any Corps Member that work contrary to the stipulated electoral guidelines during the elections would face the wrath of the law.

Kazaure also advised the Corps Members not to collect food, drinks or any form of inducement from politicians that may intend to use them contrary to the success of the elections.

“As patriotic Citizens of this country, l want you to be non-partisan and serve as good ambassadors of the NYSC Scheme during the elections. Be security conscious and in case of any security threat, run to a safe location”, the DG added.

Earlier, Major General Kazaure during a courtesy call on Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmad Abdur-rahman solicited for adequate security for the Corps Members.

He said Corps Members are National assets and all stakeholders must ensure that they are adequately protected before, during and after the elections.

In his response, the Commissioner commended the Director-General for the visit.

The police boss added that the command would not compromise the safety of all Corps Members in the State. “Corps Members are the precious assets of the nation for a better tomorrow and their safety is guaranteed at all times”, the Police Commissioner said.
